Foreign nationals and NemKonto
All foreign nationals with a Danish civil registration number (a CPR number) should have a NemKonto.
Your NemKonto is the bank account used by all public authorities, including FerieKonto, the State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme, etc. when they are making payments to you. It is a regular bank account that you are already using. You decide which of your regular bank accounts you want to use as your NemKonto.
If you are a foreign national living in Denmark and you have a Danish civil registration number (a CPR number), you generally need to have a NemKonto. In Denmark, payments from public authorities are made via NemKonto. Such payments include child benefits, holiday allowance and tax refunds.
If you expect to receive payments from public authorities, you need to select a NemKonto before the first payment is made. You can do so here at nemkonto.dk by logging into the self-service solution, or you can ask your bank to do it for you.
